It is an easy project to do and will save you some money, cleaning the solar panels instead of buying new lamps, I have lamps which are years old and still going strong.

Though solar lamps are meant to be outside the year-round, depending on where you live, you may want to take them in for the winter, then it is a good idea to give them a proper clean, so they are ready for the next season and don't forget to take the batteries out as well.

Should the batteries run a bit low it is a good idea to switch them off for someday, but still, leave them in the sun, it gives a bust to the batteries.

To make solar lamps yourself is not difficult, it is fun; and why not do it together with your kids and make it a family project? If you go here you will learn how to do it.
