How to Make Candles at Home Step by Step

Knowing candles are getting more and more expensive, I wanted to find out, how to make my own, and came across this video, telling how to make candles at home.

Supplies Needed

100% Midwest Soy Container Wax by American Soy Organics (5 pound bag)

Pyrex Measuring 4 Cup (32 Oz) Glass, Clear, Red

- Pot
- Wicks with holders, or wicks and holders to assemble yourself
- A Candle Jar or a Container, the size of the Candleholder must be able to contain 1 cup of wax in liquid form
- Essential Oil:
- Roman Chamomile
- Fusion Lavender
- Fusion Geranium
- 1 cup, measuring cup
- Spoon
- Pencil
- A pliers
- Glue gun
- A scissor
- Bagholder

Step by Step Instructions

1. Put the Glue Gun on
2. Make sure the wicks are properly tightened in the wick holder, or if you bought them separately, put them together but make sure they are tight by giving them a bite with the pliers
3. Now put the wicks in the candle holder, make sure to put them in the middle, give them a drop of glue under the back of the wick holder, press the wick holder tight in the bottom of the jar with the pencil
4. Use a double boiler, put the Pot with water on the Stove, put it on middle heat, use the Jar to melt the wax in, and use the spoon to stir.
5. Measure 2 cups of wax, using 2 cups of wax, you will get 1 cup of wax in liquid form
6. Stir in the wax while melting with the spoon
7. Don’t let the wax get too hot, just melt it down so it looks clear
8. Now add the essential oil, 20-30 drops of Chamomile
9. About 10 drops of the Lavender oil
10. About 5 drops of Roman geranium
11. Stir the oil together with the wax, and pour the wax into the candle holder, pour along with the wick which you must hold upright
12. Put a bag holder on the wick or fold the wick around the pencil, so the wick doesn't drop down in the hot wax
13. Now leave the candle overnight
14. If or when the wick is too long, cut it
15. If you wish to decorate a candle holder, you can do so

It is not a difficult task to do on your own, you don't need big gear to get started, and it is enjoyable, this is the basis for how to do it.

But with experience you can add color or other oils and decorate the candle holders, it is only the imagination that will stop you.
